Foodbank, Clothing and Household Items

IFSSA’s food and clothing bank are services provided free of charge to people in need and are completely confidential. If you or someone you know are in need of assistance in the form of food, clothing, or houshold items please contact the IFSSA office.

In the case of food needs, a confidential meeting will be set up with our Essential Needs Manager who will assess your needs with you and arrive at an individualized arrangment suited to you and your family.

All of the food, clothing, and household items services are made possible by generous donations from the Edmonton community.

Food Bank

IFSSA is the only social service organization in the city of Edmonton which provides a completely Halal foodbank for all of its clients. Halal is the Arabic word for permissible. In order for food to meet the this Islamic dietary criteria, meat products are slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines and food must be free of alcohol and pork products/by-products. This does not exclude anyone from eating the food but rather is a service that we feel is necessary for those people in need who are Muslim. IFSSA offers its foodbank to all those in need regardless of race, gender or religious affiliation.

  • Boxed/Bottled drinks
  • Crackers/cookies
  • Tea/coffee
  • Evaporated/Powdered Milk

Clothing Bank

Clothing for men, women, and children is readily available at the IFSSA office and is free of charge and does not require that an appointment be made. Items that are often available include:

  • Men’s / Women’s / Children’s shirts & pants
  • Skirts / Blouses
  • Shoes
  • Purses
  • Infant clothing and bedding
  • Skates
  • Coats
  • Winter hats, scarves, gloves
  • Womens headscarves

Furniture and Other Items

Other items that are often available include:

  • Infant clothing and bedding
  • Small appliances
  • Linens
  • Kitchen wares (dishes/pots/utensils)
  • Lamps
  • Living room furniture
  • Toys
