Fostering Healthy Families – Assistance for persons and families suffering from domestic abuse

IFSSA has established a program that provides direct assistance to those who are victim of domestic abuse. In 2009, the Fostering Healthy Families program provided over 200 individuals in the Muslim and non-Muslim community with education and one to one support, surrounding family violence. Along with education – IFSSA has an outreach team that works with individuals and families to help break the cycle of abuse. IFSSA recognizes the diverse causes of family violence in the community and has taken leadership in aiding those who are ready to take the step towards creating healthy environments for themselves and their families. Current Services include:

Non Judgmental and Confidential:

• Outreach worker
• Culturally Sensitive counseling: marrital discord, family mediation, depression, healthy relationships
• Support Groups for sisters
• Resource Referals : Housing and Shelter, legal, programs to help
• Transportation
• Esential needs for victims
• Risk managment/Saftey planning
• Education
